The Makoons Value Chain Map
The Makoons Value Chain Map is an effort being led out by our Makoons team to create a living value chain map of our food system here within the Chequamegon Bay Region. This map will highlight each link in the chain as well their relationships to one another, from farms & producers, to transportation, storage and distributors. We will also integrate traditional Anishinaabe food practices into the value chain, illuminating the abundance that is available, and how sustainable hunting, fishing and foraging plays a crucial role within our communities well-being.
Our Mission
Our mission with this value chain is to support the continued building of bioregional sovereignty and self determination within the food economy of the Chequamegon Bay area. Through a map that is both community and culturally informed…
We seek to…
Provide an accessible platform to support the relational weaving of groups and initiatives, nurturing collective well-being.
Provide an up-to-date Anishinaabek-led map of traditional food resources, integrating sustainable hunting, fishing and foraging as an abundant and central part of our value chain.
Identify gaps in the chain and work to nurture collective, grass roots solutions.
